Someone once asked me what word describes me best…
And the answer was simple: I’m a creator. I’m happiest when my hands are at work making something, whether through art and painting — my true love — or my day job as a web developer or one of my many other maker interests of woodworking, sewing, photography and gardening.
This is a journal of my creative work. Look for posts featuring art that I’ve created, as well as my creative process. You will also find photographs that I take on my travels around the neighborhood, state and more. And you might even see a little bit of gardening and other kinds of growing plants, shrubs and trees.
“All these (craftsmen and master workers) rely upon their hands, and each is skilful in his own work… they keep stable the fabric of the world, and their prayer is in the practice of their trade.”Sirach 38:31, 34
It’s easy to see the world around us as filling with impossibilities. My art provides a view of the possible. A view of hope and connections. A view of the sacred nature inside all of us.
Stop and consider for a moment: We are all children of God. We are all connected in spirit, in this place, in this time. We are called to love and care for each other.
And when we believe that deep down inside, the world becomes a place of hope, love and joy.
Joy is possible! Joy is possible!
Every piece that I create is personally handcrafted, custom created for the customer. Some follow similar patterns or designs, but each is individually sketched and painted. All are hand finished as well, and labeled as an original piece of artwork. As I work, I typically meditate on the theme or saying and silently pray for the person who is going to eventually receive it and place it in their home.
